Three arrested, firearms recovered from burglarized home
Three people are behind bars in connection with an El Centro burglary. Firearms and other property were taken.
Det. Adrian Chilpa said, “Two loaded firearms, one of them being a 9-millimeter pistol, the other one a nine-shot revolver. According to our victim, both were loaded to capacity at the time they were taken.”
Police arrested 20-year-old Faith Estrada and 43-year-old Miguel Quines on Tuesday on Dogwood road and Hamilton. Police found property missing from the burglarized home inside their vehicle.
“Miscellaneous jewelry, documents, but our biggest concern were the two loaded firearms,” Chilpa said.
43-old Jessie Herrera was arrested at 7 th and Woodward after running out of a motel room on Adamas Avenue with two other individuals. Police said they found the two missing firearms in a backpack Herrera was carrying. The other two individuals got away.
Police said the victim knows one of the suspects who might be related to him in some way.
“One of our retired lieutenants, who had gone out of town over the past weekend, he returned Monday, February 19, and realized his home had been broken into. One of the things that was a little suspicious for him is that the alarm was not set off. So, it became a little more evident that he might’ve known who the person was that targeted him,” Childpa said.
They’re being charged with burglary and possession of stolen property. And there’s one more suspect at large.
“That person was named and discovered through our investigation once we had the other suspects in custody,” Chilpa said.
The investigation is ongoing and police are looking for more suspects
