Rollover crash in Somerton, 72-year-old transported to YRMC

A 72-year-old woman was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center after being involved in a rollover crash in Somerton Wednesday night.

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department and Cocopah Police said the woman was driving westbound on County 14 th and drove up to the levee, failed to stop and subsequently launched over the levee’s west side rock embankment.

SCFD and CP said the woman was driving alone.

SCFD and CP said after launching off the levee and onto the ground below, the vehicle appeared to have rolled at least once.

Border Patrol agents who were patrolling the area found the vehicle and driver.

The woman was complaining of pain to her right lower leg, left upper leg and left eye. Due to the force of the impact, all of the vehicle’s airbags deployed.

The patient was placed in full cervical spine immobilization and transported to YRMC.

The Cocopah Police Department is investigating at this time.
