Man arrested on suspicion of burglary for third time

Mexicali resident Jorge Enrique Trujillo, 29, is in custody for burglary and vandalism after he unknowingly activated two silent alarms at a business.

Calexico Police Detective Armando Orozco said, “Patrol units received an alarm activation at a local residence on the three-hundredth block of west second street. The first officer on scene noticed that there was front damage to the business and directed a secondary unit to check the back of the business.”

He said police could hear someone inside the business as they surrounded the building.

“While setting up their perimeter, they noticed there was some movement inside the business. And later discovered that the suspect was still on premise. After a short while, the suspect gave himself up and he was taken into custody,” Orozco said.

Police found various items they called burglary tools in Trujillo’s possession, including a ski mask, gloves, two hammers and some chisels.

Police said this is the third time they’ve arrested Trujillo on the same type of crime. He had just been free for less than a year.

“The last two times he’s gotten eighteen months. It’s possible that he’ll get a little bit longer sentence this time because it’s the same charge, same crime, but this is his third offense now,” Orozco said.

Police said Trujillo might be connected to a series of recent burglaries in the area.
