Gov. Doug Ducey in Yuma Thursday

Governor Doug Ducey made his first visit of the year to Yuma Thursday.

His visit comes on the heels of his State of The State address on Jan. 14.

A week ago, Arizona passed a water contingency plan. The legislation would conserve more water from Lake Mead and help reduce the risk of harmful cut-backs in the future – something the governor has discussed with agriculture leaders in Yuma County.

During his State of the State address, Governor Ducey briefly mentioned border security, highlighting Arizona as an example for others.

“Washington could learn a lot from us when the federal government failed to secure our border we created the border strike force combating crime without interrupting trade,” Governor Doug Ducey said.

Governor Ducey will speak at 9 a.m. at Arizona Western College located at 2020 S. Avenue 8E in the 3C Conference Center.
