Social security unable to pay benefits by 2034

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Social security will have to cut benefits in 2034, according to an annual report from the Program and Medicare trustees.

2034 is a year earlier than projected because Covid-19 caused a drop in employment and a loss of payroll tax dollars, but the trustees say this will happen if congress does not act.
