Yuma student under investigation, media post alarmed YPD

A 13-year-old student is being investigated after making a post on social media that alarmed authorities with lyrics from a popular rap artist, according to the Yuma Police Department.

Yuma Police was alerted of the social media post on Monday, January 28 around 10:00 p.m.

The post had no mention of any names or schools, according to YPD. The student said the lyrics were posted and the artist was tagged in the post because it was their birthday.

YPD responded to Castle Dome Middle School because the student currently attends the school.

With help from school officials, the investigation revealed the student had no intention to harm or threaten the school or anyone.

The post had already been removed prior to police contacting the student author of the post.

Castle Dome officials said the school is operating normally.
