Former Border Patrol agent sentenced for sex crimes against minor

A former Border Patrol agent and former Yuma resident, 30-year-old Kyle Elden Mrofka, was sentenced in an Imperial County courthouse to three years formal probation with no jail time for the statutory rape of an underage girl.

Imperial County District Attorney’s Office said the offense happened 5 years ago in the Picacho State Park near Winterhaven.

Mrofka plead no contest to a misdemeanor count of statutory rape as part of a plea deal. He was ordered to stay away from the victim for the next 10 years and to enroll in a sex offender program. Mrofka will not have to register as a sex offender.
