BBB warns of Super Bowl ticket and travel scams

The Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots are headed to the Super Bowl and the Better Business Bureau hopes to see fewer fans taken advantage of by ticket and travel scams.

Last year the BBB pacific southwest scam tracker reported $1,013,414 in total loss from people who purchased travel tickets to last year’s super bowl.

“These were scams that consumers purchased tickets on bogus websites,” Said Janet Torricellas from the Better Business Bureau in Yuma. “They never got their tickets, they never got their email confirmation – yet they paid hundreds to travel but they got nothing.”

To ensure your ticket is being sold by a legitimate provider you can visit the National Association of Ticket Brokers (NATB) or VerifiedTicketSource.com to confirm the seller is a member of the NATB.

Suggested sites for purchasing game tickets are StubHub.com, SeatGeek and Vivid Seats. You can also find a website’s rating with the Better Business Bureau through its website.

Using a credit card on these purchases allows for additional protection with some banks according to the BBB. The consumer protection agency says to look out for flashy adds with to “too good to be true” pricing on tickets as well.
