Blue Angels pilot makes emergency landing, no injuries reported

A Blue Angels pilot made an emergency landing Tuesday following a mishap at the Naval Air Facility in El Centro, Calif.

Naval Air Facility officials said the accident happened when the F/A-18 Hornet’s main landing gear did not extend on approach to the airfield following a training flight. The aircraft’s pilot and ground personnel did not suffer any injuries during the landing. Authorities said no other personnel or spectators were in danger at any time.

The cause of the mishap remains under investigation.

The Blue Angels will remain at NAF El Centro through mid-March as they prepare for the upcoming air show season.
