New study ranks Somerton fourth safest Arizona city

Somerton is one of the safest cities to live in Arizona, according to new crime statistics by the FBI.

Somerton ranked fourth on the list, provided by the National Council for Home Safety and Security.

The study highlights cities that have the least amount of violent and non-violent crimes per population.

According to the study, Arizona’s property and violent crime rates are 30 percent lower than the national average.

Somerton saw 179 total crimes in 2017, according to FBI data. The city’s crime rate per 1,000 is at a rate of 0.012. That’s below the national average, that stands at .86 percent per 1,000.

NCHSS achieved their findings by examining data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting tool.

Florence, Arizona ranked first on the list.
