Where to celebrate MLK Day in Yuma

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is right around the corner and if you’re wondering what Yuma is doing locally to celebrate, we have got you covered.

Starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 21, the NAACP local chapter of Yuma will be hosting a march at Rose Of Sharon Church located at S. 10th Ave. The march will run down 3rd Street and end at the MLK center on South 13th Ave. in Yuma.

This march is meant to honor Dr. King, the civil rights activist who led a movement to end racial segregation in the United States.

The local NAACP chapter in Yuma encourages everyone to come and attend. The chapter also invites the community to join their monthly meetings held at the “Helping Hand Club” right next to the center.

During the barbeque at the MLK center, the local chapter will be accepting donations. If you are interested in joining, the membership for adults is $30 and for kids, it is $10. They meet the first Saturday of the month.

For more information on how to get involved, you can contact Norma Nelson at (928) 783-4305.
