Assistance event to be held to help federal employees in Imperial

The Imperial County Department of Social Services (DSS) is looking to help federal employees who have been feeling the pinch since the partial government shutdown started.

On Tuesday, January 22, DSS will host an event to assist employees who have been furloughed.

The event will be at the DSS office at 2895 South 4th Street in El Centro from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.

DSS officials, as well as agencies including the Employment Development Department, Imperial Irrigation District, Inland Fair housing, First Imperial Credit Union, Sun Community Federal Credit Union, and various water districts, will answer questions and provide information to assist with basic needs, loan deferments, bills, and unemployment benefits.

Impacted federal employees are encouraged to attend.
