Heffernan Memorial Healthcare District to hold a press conference Wednesday

The Heffernan Memorial Healthcare District welcomed its newest board members Wednesday morning, enforcing their commitment to better health care for Calexico residents.

The board also announced events and programs offered to the community such as wellness programs and obstacle races.

Board of Directors Treasurer Gloria Grijalva said health programs and events are essential to promoting a healthier lifestyle.

“We don’t have a hospital. So what we try to do is get programs that will help our community. Exercise programs, cancer programs, our children obesity programs. Anything that can help them,” said Grijalva.

Some of the programs that are offered involve helping the senior community and those struggling with asthma.
