The Complex Yuma holds grand opening

Saturday, January 12, 2019, marked the beginning of a new era for a local gym.

The Complex Yuma, formerly known as World Gym Yuma, held their grand opening, officially branching off from the World Gym franchise.

From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., fitness enthusiasts and local businesses converged at The Complex Yuma to be treated with free massages, haircuts and food.

“I want people to come in the door and feel welcome,” said manager Israel Trevino. “I don’t want people to feel like just a name or a number when they scan in. I want them to come in and have our staff address them by their first name. I want us to do more charity work. It’s time to give back to Yuma.”

The afternoon also included a series of fitness challenges and a demonstration of the Bull of the Desert Strongman Competition that’s coming up in February.

“At the end of the day, what gets us here and keeps us here is how you feel when you’re here,” said manager Heather Cook Elias. “Aside from the same equipment and programming, we want to create the atmosphere of family and belonging.”

Membership prices start at $39/month for the basic plan and $47/month for the plus plan with instructor classes. The Complex Yuma is open Monday through Thursday from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Fridays from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on the weekends from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
