Teen that confessed to playground arson appears in court

The minor that confessed to starting the fire that destroyed the Stewart Vincent Wolfe Imaginary Playground in 2014 appeared in court Wednesday in order to set his trial date.

Seventeen-year-old Kane Perez is in custody for two major cases; one involving arson, the other officer assault.

His defense attorney asked that these two cases be consolidated stating “the cases are unrelated but I’d like to solve them at the same time.”

His cases were granted to be continued until next month in order to be reassigned to the same division.

A setting of a trial date will follow.
