Two hospitalized in T-bone crash

Two people were hospitalized as a result of a T-bone crash on Highway 95 Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Somerton Cocopah Fire Department, the incident happened at 1:24 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue C and Highway 95. Firefighters arrived at the scene and found a white Jeep Cherokee and a silver Hyundai sedan on the roadway of Highway 95.

Eyewitnesses told authorities that the Hyundai, which had two women on board, was turning south onto Highway 95. A white Jeep Cherokee, driven by a woman, was heading northbound. Fire officials said the Hyundai pulled in front of the Jeep who was unable to stop and ultimately struck the Hyundai.

Both drivers were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for further medical evaluation.

The accident remains under investigation by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
