Yuma Sector Border Patrol Agents assaulted by Honduran Migrant

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents were assaulted by a Honduran migrant on Friday night.

After discovering footprints at approximately 5:45 p.m, agents called for reinforcement for a CBP Air and Marine helicopter to track a 31-year-old Honduran man who was found near a tree after crossing illegally into the United States.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, he then climbed the tree and began setting it on fire. He then started to throw rocks at Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents and even the CBP helicopter.

Although none of the agents or the pilot were physically struck, he was then later taken into custody and was transported to the Yuma Central Processing Center.

During the processing, he was found to have several previous arrests in Florida, as well as a previous deportation from the U.S. from June 4th 2018. He claims to be apart of migrant caravan and had crossed illegally from Mexico east of the Andrade port of entry in California.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials welcome assistance from the community by reporting any suspicious activity to the Border Patrol and remain anonymous by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free.
