26 migrants caught near Morelos Dam

26 Guatemalan migrants were arrested in Yuma on Thanksgiving.

Those who live just miles from where the migrants crossed explain how they feel about the incident.

“I don’t think I’m afraid. I don’t think they’re bad people. They’re just running from their place where they used to live. They just want to make it out here. I’m not afraid,” said Stella, Yuma resident.
Vera, a woman who is looking after her mother’s home nearby the area, also weighed in.

“If it’s cold you know or if they’re hungry, they might knock on the door and ask for food. That’s always a concern,” said Vera.

Border Patrol confirmed that the entire group was crossing into Yuma and all were taken into custody.

Most a part of the group were family units, according to Border Patrol.

The migrants crossed near the Morelos Dam, according to Border Patrol. They added that this is a common area for migrants to cross into the Yuma area.
