Breast cancer survivor gives back
Betsy Ender has been cancer-free for almost a decade.
When she has the opportunity to give back to the organization that brought her comfort through years of chemotherapy, she didn’t hesitate.
“They were the ones that were instrumental in my journey. With giving me help with my diagnosis, where I’m going for treatment. All kinds of support groups. You know just real true friendship,” said Enders.
With the partnership of jewelry company Style Dots, Enders chose the Imperial Valley Cancer Support Center as the beneficiary of the profits from a special bracelet bringing awareness to breast cancer.
Ender added, “As soon as I described this to them and where it was going. Where the proceeds were going. They were ready to go. They knew exactly what they were going to support me.”
The proceeds are going to help the Imperial Valley Cancer Support Center transport patients.
Oreda Chin, the executive director of Imperial Valley Cancer Support, said the funds would go to, “Helping our patients get back and forth to San Diego and other places when they have to be treated.”
To Chin, it’s a special moment for the organization.
“Well, it says a lot about what the company values are. And how important it is for them the health and welfare of others. They don’t know me they don’t know a lot of people here in the valley. And for them to give to an organization and to a community such as this,” said Chin.
