Helping Hands of Yuma stays open

The Helping Hands of Yuma, a non-profit organization that’s known for taking care of the elderly in the Yuma community is staying open!

You may not have known, but Helping Hands of Yuma, an organization that has been open for 22 years serving seniors in the Foothills just had announced a couple weeks ago that they were closing their doors.

However, thanks to a steady stream of support by locals and volunteers, it was just announced that the organization will now stay open. Seniors that live from 5E to the base of the mountain in Yuma have benefited from this organization knowing that if they needed something, ‘Helping Hands’ would be there to help.

“There’s no other non-profit like us in Yuma that provides free services to seniors like the transportation and it’s vital. We have at least 150 people that rely on us weekly for the transportation to go grocery shopping or go to the doctors to get prescriptions. In the last week and a half, we’ve reached out to the community and the outpour has been amazing. As of now, we’ve raised over $17,000 and our goal is to raise at least $20,000,” said Amy Obney, The Helping Hands of Yuma Executive Director.

The Helping Hands of Yuma plans on hosting a “Super Yard Sale Fundraiser,” which is their biggest event of the year. That will take place on November 30th and December 1st from 8am to 2pm. For more details you can call (928) 305-9974
