Youth take leadership role in local summit
Young people took center stage at the 9 TH Annual Environmental Health Leadership Summit this Friday in Heber.
Comite Civico del Valle organizers said local youth are concerned about the area they live in and took an active role in conversations and discussions at the summit with state officials and regional leaders.
CCV Executive Director Jose Luis Olmedo said over 300 people at the event represented the educational, industry, community and legislative sectors. He said the summit’s overall purpose is to make sure the voices and concerns of the community get to the ears of state officials.
“The youth are eager for information. And we’re just basically, we’re facilitating that. We’re a vehicle for information and connecting them to the enormous amount of resources that are out there, connecting them to professionals, to government, to politicians,” Olmedo said.
