Hollywood comes to area at local film fest

Over a 100 people crowded acting workshops and film screenings at the local 7 th Annual Film Festival and Artist Showcase.

Hollywood professionals working in film and television gave locals some hands-on tips on how to work for the film industry during special workshops at the film fest held at Imperial Valley Mall on Friday thru Saturday.

The fest featured nearly 30 film trailers, short and feature films, mostly from local filmmakers.

Local actor and filmmaker Alan Massey said the event opens career opportunities and a chance to become motivated as a storyteller for people like him living in a small border town far from Hollywood
“Something that I’ve felt is like an artistic hunger, artistic thirst. When I do get to see what other people have done for shorts or I get to talk to people about ideas, I feel that it comes up, I want to get into that, want to do more; I want to experience more of the arts,” Massey said.

Imperial Valley Film Commission organized the festival.
