AZ Secretary of State counts first round of early ballots

The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office released the first round of early ballot numbers for the 2018 General Election.

At last check, over 121,000 early ballots have been counted, according to the office. Of those, nearly 45.7 percent are Republican voters and 31.4 percent make up Democratic voters.

The data shows the median age of voters turning in early ballots is 59-years-old. Female voters who have turned in early ballots were tallied up to 46 percent.

According to ballot data, 41 early ballots from Yuma County have been counted. Compared to Maricopa County, who have counted 93,642 early ballots.

The office utilizes four datasets including statewide voter registration list, gender probability based on first names, and notes on available data when analyzing early ballots from counties across Arizona.
