APS asks Yuma County leaders to consider resolution against Prop 127

Prop 127 has been one of the most talked about measures on Arizona’s ballot.

The energy initiative is calling for energy providers to give at least 50 percent of the energy they provide to be from renewable energy sources by 2030.

News 11 has confirmed that a local APS representative reached out to two county officials to present information regarding the ballot initiative, an initiative APS is strongly opposed to.

Yuma County did not agree with APS on the two requests it made to Yuma County leaders in both May and June of this year.

Jon Smith, the Yuma County attorney, told leaders not to move forward with the resolution citing state statute 11-410.

Yuma County residents were first introduced to Prop 127 when signs popped up with the website hesgotasecret.com.

As news 11 reported, it was an information campaign against prop 127.

APS claimed this is part of their job.

“Their job is to provide information to stakeholders on issues that affect APS customers,” said APS in a statement to News 11. “Prop 127 would be detrimental to both the state and our customers. And elected officials deserve to have accurate information from reliable sources on the effects of this proposition.”
