Crime mapping system now available to the public

A new crime mapping system is now available to the city of Yuma thanks to a new partnership.

The Yuma Police Department and LexisNexis Risk Solutions joined forces to offer the new online crime map called Community Crime Map. The crime map outlines and explains crime data while also alerting Yuma residents about crime in their area. The crime map also allows YPD to alert the public of crimes as they occur.

Residents can see the map and grid all the crimes in their area. They can also sign up for neighborhood watch reports that email a breakdown of recent crime activity automatically. The public can also submit anonymous tips about a crime directly to local law enforcement through the crime map website, according to officials.

The Community Crime Map also syncs automatically with YPD’s records systems to keep crime information updated online and through the mobile app. Basic information of incidents reported will display on the map and include the type of crime, location type, block-level address, date, and time.
