Stand Up 2 Cancer local ambassador shares event experience

Longtime Yuma resident Lidia Gonzalez is in a struggling battle with pancreatic cancer.

In an interview, Gonzalez shared that she feels as if this cancer is a blessing in disguise since it has opened many doors for her. This includes traveling to Los Angeles for the Stand Up to Cancer event that featured many celebrities including Karla Souza.

“I feel as if this has opened my eyes to the true meaning of life and now I am actually living every day like it is my last,” said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez has been fighting this cancer since November 2017 when she was first diagnosed. Since then she has traveled to Phoenix for treatment.

A couple of weeks ago, Mexican actress Karla Souza made a trip down to Yuma for an exclusive interview with Gonzalez where she shared her experience fighting off this aggressive cancer. Souza also shared her very own experience of losing a loved one to the deadly disease.
