Stopped school bus leads to chain-reaction crash

A stopped school bus that was picking up students led to a chain-reaction crash at Highway 95 and County 14th 1/2 Street Tuesday morning.

The Somerton Cocopah Fire Department (SCFD) said they responded to a collision at 8:11 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived at the scene, SCFD crews found four vehicles with rear-end moderate damage. Authorities said the vehicles were stopped on Highway 95 due to a school bus loading students when the crash happened. The school bus was not involved in the incident.

Four people were assessed at the scene but refused transportation to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
