Man arrested for attacking two police officers appears in court

UPDATE: Sivyer appeared in court Tuesday for a status hearing in which he plead not guilty to new indictment charges.

His final management conference is set for October 2.

The man was arrested after attacking two police officers and stealing an officer’s gun also appeared in court Tuesday.

Forty-one-year-old Ralph Sivyer was taken into custody in June and was wanted on multiple felony charges from prior cases.

His status conference is set for September 4.

ORIGINAL STORY: Yuma man facing fewer charges prior to assaulting police officers

Sivyer was wanted for possession of a weapon by a prohibited person and prohibited weapon-manufacturing.

It wasn’t until Yuma Police Department approached Sivyer in early June in a traffic stop when he assaulted two officers and took off with one of their handguns.
