Agents arrest driver suspected of human smuggling
Border Patrol agents patrolling the area of Dome Valley arrested a Pomona, Calif. resident suspected of smuggling four illegal immigrants early Friday morning.
The incident happened at 6:15 a.m. when agents working near Avenue 26E and Old Highway 80 made an immigration stop on a grey 2016 Hyundai Accent. The driver was found to be a 34-year-old United States citizen from Pomona, Calif. During the stop, agents learned the other passengers in the vehicle were Mexican nationals illegally present in the country.
The driver was arrested for transportation of illegal immigrants and the Mexican nationals were processed for immigration violations.
