CBP seize meth and fentanyl pills

Two men were arrested in two separate attempts to smuggle nearly 74 pounds of methamphetamine and nearly four ounces of fentanyl during the weekend, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The first incident occurred when CBP referred a 27-year-old man for additional questioning and a canine alerted to an odor it is trained to detect.

Officers discovered 74 pounds of meth concealed in the vehicle’s gas tank, with a street value of $220,000.

The second incident occurred when a 43-year-old man applied for admission in the United States at the pedestrian crossing and a canine alerted to an odor.

Officers were lead to discover one package of suspected fentanyl pills with an approximate weight of four ounces.

CBP seized the drugs and vehicle.

Both suspects were arrested and turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
