Woman arrested with drugs worth over $2 million in vehicle

Sarah Rivas was booked and arrested after officers discovered more than two million dollars of dangerous drugs in her vehicle on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old was stopped for a traffic violation after exiting 16th street onto Interstate 8 in a 2007 Ford F-150 and was traveling with four minor children.

Deputies requested the assistance of a canine to further inspect the vehicle.

The Yuma County Narcotics Task Force , the Yuma Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations arrived at the scene and discovered a total of 107 individual packages.

The packages contained methamphetamine and one package contained heroin.

The combined weight of the packages containing meth weighed approximately 112.9 pounds with a street value of $2,048,423. The package containing heroin weighed approximately 1.17 pounds with an estimated street value of $31,842.

Rivas has been charged for transportation of dangerous drugs, possession of a dangerous drug for sale, possession of a dangerous drug, transportation of a narcotic drug, possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of a narcotic drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The four minor children traveling with Rivas were transferred to the care of the Department of Child Services.
