Local dancers make it to national competition

A group of local dancers performed in a national competition this weekend.

Members of “A Step Ahead Performance Academy” in Yuma gave it their all in Anaheim, Calif., at the LA Dance Magic Nationals.

Reagan Sheppeard earned the “Future Star” award and was invited to join the LA Dance Magic Company.

Rayna Joy earned the second runner-up in the senior category and she was also invited to join LADMC.

Congratulations to all the girls and to the owner, teacher and choreographer of “A Step Ahead”, Michelle Parker.

Here is a ranking of how the other girls did in the competition:

Rayna Joy, Reagan Sheppeard and Annie Reichman – Trio- first overall

Rayna Joy and Annie Recihman – Duo- first overall

Annie Reichman and Kate Campa – Duo- 2nd overall

Annie Reichman, Rayna Joy and Morgan Minnick – Trio- 3rd overall

Rayna Joy – Solo- 2nd overall

Reagan Sheppeard – Solo- 8th overall

Whole group number – 3rd overall
