Unemployment rate worsens in Imperial and Yuma Counties

Unemployment rates have increased in June according to the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity.

Rates are 19.1 percent in Yuma and 18 percent in Imperial County according to AOEO.

Meanwhile, Arizona’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged from 4.7 percent in May to 4.7 percent in June. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased from 3.8 percent in May to 4 percent in June.

A year ago, the Arizona seasonally adjusted rate was 4.8 percent and the U.S. rate was 4.3 percent. Over the month, Arizona’s seasonally adjusted labor force level increased 325 individuals from May to June. From June 2017 to June 2018 Arizona’s seasonally adjusted labor force level increased 67,974 individuals.
