Witness recalls scene of Super 8 Motel shooting

A Super 8 motel employee said he witnessed the shooting that killed a 28-year-old Yuma woman on Saturday.

Police are investigating the shooting after 28-year-old Perla Sanchez was shot and killed on Saturday.

According to the Yuma Police Department, the incident happened near the 1600 block of Riley Avenue, shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday.

The witness, who said he’d like to remain anonymous, said the victim and suspect checked into a room together on Friday.

The witness also said he immediately attended to the victim after she was shot, and recalls the details that lead to her wound.

“She was in shock,” The witness said. “Moaning, [she] was not really responsive.”

While the suspect’s relationship to the victim is in question, several people have taken to social media to describe Sanchez as a “sweet and loving person.”

“He was very angry,” The witness said. “He could’ve walked away at any point, but chose not to.”

Brown is facing several murder charges, including first-degree murder.

His bond is set at $1,000,000. He will be seen by a judge on Tuesday, July 3.
