City of Brawley welcomes new police chief
The City of Brawley had a swearing-in ceremony Monday for new Police Chief Robert C. Sawyer.
Chief Sawyer is an Imperial Valley native. He has a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement from California Coast University. He began his career as a reserve police officer and worked his way up through the ranks. He has about twenty years of experience in law enforcement with the City of El Centro and was most recently the police commander.
“We are pleased to announce that our recruitment process led us to the skills and talents of Robert Sawyer as Brawley’s next chief of police,” Mayor George A. Nava stated. “Incoming Chief Sawyer is a dedicated professional. I am impressed with his analytical skills and the rigorous effort he has undertaken to become acquainted with our challenges and opportunities,” City Manager Rosanna Bayon Moore said.
“I am both humbled and honored to have been chosen as Brawley’s police chief. The Brawley Police Department has a reputation for responsive law enforcement. I look forward to building on the successes of the past, preserving community trust and ensuring the safety of our officers and the entire Brawley community. I enthusiastically embrace the challenge to lead the organization and I am grateful for the opportunity,” Chief Sawyer stated in a press release.
