YPD confirms identity of man in shooting

The Yuma Police Department has identified the man that was shot in Yuma on Monday morning as 25-year-old Adrian Covarrubias.

Yuma Police Department responded to 14th street and Arena Dr. in reference to reports of shots fired at approximately 4:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located Covarrubias in the street with a gunshot wound.

Covarrubias was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center and later flown to a Phoenix hospital.

Police confirmed that Covarrubias died on Tuesday.

Multiple casings were located in the area.

Public Information Officer for Yuma Police, Sgt. Lori Franklin said, “We had multiple callers call in saying that they heard several shots fired.”

There is no suspect in custody and no further information available at this time.

This case is still under investigation.
