NCEA hosts World Elder Abuse awareness day event

June 15th is World Elder Abuse awareness day. The National Center for Elder Abuse is hosting an event starting at 9 am at the North End Community Center at 160 East 1st Street.

The event is focused on raising awareness for elder abuse and seeking to understand the challenges and opportunities that come with the elderly population.

Information about elder abuse will be provided and presentations will be done by the Yuma Police Department, City of Yuma, Adult Protective Services and more.

The NCEA focuses on building strong support for elders as well as providing printed information for seniors and businesses around the city.

Teri Rademacher, area supervisor for ABRIO care said, there are several different types of elderly abuse that occur including financial, physical and verbal.
