UA student diagnosed with rare autoimmune disease stranded in Spain

A University of Arizona student is stranded in Spain after becoming paralyzed due to a rare autoimmune disease.

20-year-old Kara Dunn, of Tempe, was traveling in Spain when she woke up June 5th completely paralyzed, according to a GoFundMe page.

Doctors told Dunn she had contracted Guillain-Barre syndrome, a disease where the immune system attacks the nervous system.

Kara is now facing another obstacle, the ability to come back home.

Her family is raising money for her flight and medical expenses to bring her back to Arizona.
