Miss Somerton Scholarship Pageant

Ladies, listen up, the city of Somerton is hosting it’s first ever, “Miss Somerton Scholarship Pageant.”

The city of Somerton turned one-hundred this June and in honor of the milestone, city officials wanted to incorporate another way for locals to celebrate and get involved. That’s where, “Miss Somerton” comes in. An idea that was done decades ago, this revamped version includes scholarship funds for three lucky ladies. Girls between the ages of 6 and 20, who live in Somerton can apply. This pageant goes beyond beauty and focuses more on females in the community showing great leadership and community involvement. Contestants will compete for the titles of Princess, Outstanding Teen and Miss Somerton.

“Miss Somerton, they use to do it here, so we’re trying to bring it back and remember all those good memories in the community,” said Vanessa Iturbide, Marketing Specialist, City of Somerton.

“For the younger participants, they will be getting certificates of appreciation and Miss Somerton will get a cash scholarship, but also the intent is to get them involved in the community,” said Hector Tapia, Economic Development Director, City of Somerton.

The winner of each category will be heavily involved in the city’s events and become the face of the city. Registration begins online at http://somertonaz.recdesk.com and those that make it past the first round will be introduced to the public during Somerton’s 4th of July celebration. The final crowning will happen in October.
