Police arrest suspect involved in Brawley shooting

Police arrested the alleged gas station shooter. Friends of the victim have many questions.

Murder suspect Eduardo Tolentino was arrested by El Centro Police as he walked down Main Street on Friday afternoon. A witness captured the dramatic moments on his cellphone. Brawley Police said a gun wasf ound in his possession.

Brawleyresident Ruben Curiel was shocked when he learned that 24-year-old Daniel Hernandez, Jr. Had been killed.

“I didn’t know how to react to it because he was a good guy. Everyone loved him, cared for him. It wasn’t his time,” Curiel said.

He,like the family and friends of Hernandez, has many questions.

“Why? What made him shoot Danny? What made him shoot him? There’s no reason to be taking someone’s life knowing that he has a family. He has a family. Now his kids have to grow up without their father,” Curiel said.

Hernandez was his friend.

“We grew up together and everything. We went to school together. He has his family. We all have families. He didn’t deserve to die,” Curiel said.

His heart goes out for the family.

“Just want all the family to know that I’m sorry for their loss. I personally loved Bugah. We called him Bugah,” Curiel said.

Tolentino is the prime suspect in the killing of Hernandez who was shot multiple times at a gas station in Brawley along with another victim,a teenager, who survived. Witnesses said Tolentino had been texting Hernandez repeatedly the day of the attack. No motive is known at this time.
