Three people arrested after fleeing Border Patrol checkpoint

Three people were arrested after they fled in a stolen vehicle from the Border Patrol Interstate 8 checkpoint Sunday.

At around 11:45 p.m., agents sent a 1993 Honda Hatchback to secondary inspection.

The driver, who was accompanied by two passengers, instead fled the checkpoint at a high-rate of speed. An hour later, agents found the abandoned Honda near Avenue 25E. A search was made in the area and the three individuals were arrested.

Record checks revealed the vehicle was stolen in Oregon.

All three individuals were turned over to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office.
