City of El Centro hosts inaugural Public Works Expo

The city of El Centro hosted an expo showcasing the many divisions within their public works department in honor of National Public Works Week.

The goal of the expo was to inspire the younger generation about the many career opportunities that lie in public works . The expo also served as a way to educate the community on what goes on behind the scenes.

“The public is used to seeing the street workers in the street. That’s what they think about public works many times. But there’s a bunch of folks in the background making sure their water is safe. Their water is drinkable. That the environment is protected. And they’re being taking care of,” said Abraham Campos, Interim Public Works Director.

Campos hopes this will be the first of many public work expos.
