Rep. Reginald Bolding joins increasingly crowded field.
PHOENIX, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Arizona House Minority Leader Reginald Bolding says he's running for Secretary of State. Bolding, a Democrat, made the announcement Monday.
Bolding has represented District 27, which includes most of Chandler, since 2015. He serves as the ranking member on the House Education Committee, and serves on the Ways and Means Committee. He also chairs the Arizona Black Legislative Caucus.
Bolding is the founder and chairman of the Arizona Coalition for Change. It's a community engagement group with a statewide focus.
Five Republicans have already announced their candidacy for Secretary of State including Sen. Michelle Ugenti-Rita of Scottsdale, and Rep. Mark Finchem who represents parts of Pinal and Pima counties. Former Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes, a Democrat, announced his candidacy last week.
Current Secretary of State Katie Hobbs will not seek re-election. Hobbs, a Democrat, announced earlier this month she's running for governor.
