USBP: 26-year-old arrested with more than 63 pounds of meth
SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) - Border Patrol agents said they arrested a 26-year-old woman for smuggling more than $175,000 worth of methamphetamine.
U.S. Border Patrol said the woman approached the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint around 10 in the morning last Friday. They sent the driver to secondary after a canine alerted to her grey 2008 Santa Fe.
During secondary inspection, agents found a large bundle wrapped in aluminum tape hidden underneath a factory panel in the vehicle's rear cargo. The bundles later tested positive for meth.
Agents said the drugs weighed 63.8 pounds and have a value of $175,450. They turned the driver, vehicle, and the drugs to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
