Rollover collision leaves two dead

A rollover collision left two people dead early Tuesday morning, according to California Highway Patrol.

33-year-old Gilda Fierro was traveling westbound on Keystone Road west of Austin Road at a stated speed of 45 to 50 MPH.

Fierro allowed her vehicle to the right of the roadway and onto the unimproved shoulder. This caused Fierro to turn her attention to the road, making an unsafe turning movement to the right, and off the road.

Fierro attempted to turn her vehicle back to the left causing her vehicle to overturn.

Two of the four passengers traveling with Fierro were not properly restrained and became ejected from the vehicle.

One of the passengers died at the scene and the other passenger was airlifted to a Palm Springs hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The collision is still under investigation.
