Department of Justice to appeal order on Mueller memo

(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - The Biden Administration does not want to comply with a federal judge's order to release a memo about whether former President Donald Trump obstructed justice during the Russia investigation.

Former Attorney General, William Barr, has said the memo helped him reach the conclusion that President Trump did not illegally obstruct the Russia Probe.

Earlier this month, a federal judge ordered the Justice Department to release the memo as part of a public records lawsuit.

On Monday, the Justice Department appealed the judge's order saying that the memo from March 2019 is exempt from disclosure.

The memo was prepared for Attorney General Barr to help him evaluate whether evidence collected during the special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation could support prosecuting the President for obstruction.
