Thousands attend Huntington Beach Tik Tok party, nearly causes riot

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - A beach party in Huntington Beach sparked by a viral Tik Tok video nearly caused a riot on Saturday.

The whole thing started when a Tik Tok user named Adrien invited everyone to his birthday "kick back at the beach" and the video went viral. The post got millions of views and young people turned out in the thousands.

Huntington Beach Police and other California law enforcement officers were forced to mobilize with riot gear to control the rowdy crowd.

Health officials worry tha large pop-up party could be a super spreader event, since many young people haven't been vaccinated yet.

On Sunday, Police announced that nearly 150 people were arrested on charges ranging from vandalism to using illegal fireworks to curfew violations.
