Family displaced after fire destroys home

Crews with the Rural Metro Fire Department were faced with a all to common problem, but were able to work together to take control and stop a fire from spreading to nearby homes. Just after 11 a.m. Monday morning, crews were called out to Glenn Avenue in Yuma’s north end for reports of a trailer on fire. Due to the scarce availability of fire hydrants crews had to cycle multiple fire engines; while one vehicle fought the fire another would access water and switch out.

Unfortunately, crews were not able to save the trailer which was destroyed by the fire; however crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to nearby vegetation and other homes. According to Rural Metro Fire Department no was injured in the fire and fire marshals are looking into what caused the fire.
