CBP officers arrest three teens and adult in separate smuggling incidents
Customs and Border Protection officers arrested three teenagers, and an adult man, in separate events over the past two days after attempts to smuggle more than 52 pounds of hard drugs through the San Luis Port of Entry.
Officers at the San Luis pedestrian crossing referred a 17-year-old girl for a further screening Wednesday afternoon. Officers found more than two pounds of methamphetamine wrapped around her torso.
Shortly after, officers referred a 15-year-old girl for additional screening where they discovered more than two pounds of methamphetamine wrapped around her torso.
Around an hour later, a 17-year-old boy attempted to enter through the pedestrian crossing. A search led officers to find 1.5 pounds of meth wrapped around his leg.
During all three of these incidents, a CBP canine alerted to the teenagers, leading the officers to the examinations.
The combined street value of the seized drugs was more than $18,000.
On Thursday, officers referred a 34-year-old man to a secondary inspection of his Cadillac where a CBP canine alerted to an odor. Officers removed multiple packages of drugs from the floorboard of the vehicle. More than 44 pounds of meth were found that were worth almost $133,000 and nearly three pounds of heroin, totaling nearly $48,000.
CBP officers arrested all four suspects, then turned them over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. The vehicle and drugs were seized.
