New Year’s holiday brings DUI arrests and one fatality to Imperial County

The California Highway Patrol conducted a New Year’s Holiday Enforcement Detail that brought DUI arrests and one fatality to Imperial County.

The enforcement detail began Friday, December 29th and ended Monday, January 1st at midnight.

CHP reported eight DUI arrests for the El Centro area and four DUI arrests for the area of Winterhaven.

Authorities also reported a fatality regarding a 17-year-old man who happened on New Year’s Eve. The incident had been thought to be non-life threatening in the El Centro area and was not called out.

The 17-year-old man was removed from life support on Monday after not being able to survive the injuries he sustained.

The Bureau of Land Management was at the scene for this incident.
